Winter Race Team training still in full effect!
This year marks the first year that we have run on-water training for the Race Team through the winter. So far, we've had 10 sailors on the team this winter, who have braved the cold every Saturday, and participated in theory sessions every Wednesday afternoon over Zoom. For the on-water sessions, they've had a huge range of conditions to contend with, as well as navigating ever evolving COVID-19 guidelines.
Although they haven't had any regattas to compete in for almost a year, they were a huge presence on the race course for the Frostbite series, until it was put on hold in December. The team has also completed two long-distance sails to White Rock, which both presented very challenging conditions. We're hopeful that they'll be able to put all of this training to good use when COVID-19 restrictions ease, and they're able to compete in regattas again.
