Surrey Sailing Club offers an active dinghy racing program that starts in
April and extends through to October of each year.
Racing is at two levels:
Non-trophy racing - these races are held on Wednesday evenings and some
weekends. All boats are individually timed. Final results are calculated
against adjusted personal handicaps that take into account each sailor's past performance.
Trophy racing - these races are held on weekends and some public holidays.
All boats are individually timed. Final results are calculated against adjusted Portsmouth handicaps
that take into account the past performance of different classes of boats in
local conditions.
Membership is required to participate in racing.
Each year a Racing Schedule is drawn up by the club's Executive Committee. On
weekends and public holidays starting times vary according to height of the tides.
On Wednesday evenings starting times are fixed.
